Election Day!!!

VOTE!

All I have to say is that THANK GOD it is election day!!

I am so ready for this election to be over with. No more political commercials, no more adds in the mail, or people knocking on my door. No more negative adds about negative adds. No more one sided media stories, no more bashing Sarah Palin. I am embarrassed for how our country acts during an election. I am sad what our children see to make sure grown adults "win". Very few of our politicians actions would be acceptable in our children's world, whether it be school, or on the t-ball field, or playing in that backyard football game. Our politicians have not been "making a good choices", that is for sure.

I keep thinking about the book, "All I Ever Needed to Know I Learned in Kindergarten." Maybe they all should have picked up a copy and read the key points during the election.

These are the things I learned…

Share everything.
Play fair.
Don’t hit people.
Put things back where you found them.
Clean up your own mess.
Don’t take things that aren’t yours.
Say sorry when you hurt somebody.
Wash your hands before you eat.
Flush.
Warm cookies and cold milk are good for you.
Live a balanced life.

Learn some and think some and draw and paint and sing and dance and play and work every day some.

Take a nap every afternoon.
When you go out into the world, watch for traffic, hold hands, and stick together.
Be aware of wonder. Remember the little seed in the plastic cup? The roots go down and the plant goes up and nobody really knows how or why, but we are all like that.

Goldfish and hamsters and white mice and even the little seed in the plastic cup – they all die. So do we.

And then remember the book about Dick and Jane and the first word you learned, the biggest word of all: LOOK.

Everything you need to know is in there somewhere.
The Golden Rule and love and basic sanitation.
Ecology and politics and sane living.

Think of what a better world it would be if we all – the whole world had cookies and milk about 3 o’clock every afternoon and then lay down with our blankets for a nap. Or if we had a basic policy in our nation and other nations to always put things back where we found them and cleaned up our own messes. And it is still true, no matter how old you are, when you go out into the world, it is best to hold hands and stick together.

The last line, "And it is still true, no matter how old you are, when you go out into the world, it is best to hold hands and stick together." is the most important. Our election has divided our country. It has put friends against friends, and family against family.

So as you go out and vote today, take a little advice from Robert Fulgham, and hold hands and stick together. If our country is going to get through these trouble times, we are going to have to come together as Americans not as democrats or Republicans...and hold hands and stick together.

Either way it goes tonight, amazing history is going to be made. My prediction is tonight the United States of American will have its first African American president...and what an amazing lesson this teaches all of the children of the world. Our children will learn first hand the valuable lesson that color of your skin is NOT a refection of character, who you are, or what you can become. I think so many adults could benefit from that lesson too.

Remember, don't forget to hold hands and stick together.
